Relapse Prevention

Relapse Prevention & Recovery Maintenance Program

At Jeevan Jyoti Nasha Mukti Kendra, our Relapse Prevention and Recovery Maintenance Program is an abstinence-based, culturally sensitive continuum of care designed specifically for adults in recovery. This program supports clients in identifying common recovery challenges and equips them with practical coping skills and strategies to maintain long-term sobriety.

Through a combination of group therapy, individual counseling, and cultural education, participants explore their beliefs, values, and connections to community resources that play a vital role in the healing process. This holistic approach fosters deeper insight into the causes of relapse and empowers individuals to build resilience and self-awareness.

Understanding the Relapse Process

Relapse is not merely the act of using drugs or alcohol—it is a process that begins well before actual use. Clients are guided to recognize early warning signs, triggers, and symptoms that can lead to relapse. Education focuses on:

  • Identifying high-risk situations

  • Understanding emotional and social triggers

  • Recognizing personal warning signs

  • Managing cravings and urges effectively

This insight helps reduce recidivism and strengthens each individual’s ability to maintain sobriety in real-world settings.

Program Structure & Approach

This intermediate-intensity program bridges the gap between outpatient care and recovery maintenance. It consists of structured 2-hour weekly sessions, where a culturally integrated curriculum is delivered through both group discussions and one-on-one therapy.

Highlights include:

  • Learning to cope with anger, stress, and emotional imbalances

  • Strategies for managing nutrition, lifestyle balance, and mental well-being

  • Incorporating traditional wisdom and teachings from community leaders

  • Building healthy routines including leisure activities and spiritual practices

  • Encouragement to engage with AA/NA meetings and peer support systems

  • Finding a sponsor and accessing community-based resources

The Goal

The goal of this program is to promote self-reliance, emotional stability, and a sustainable recovery lifestyle. By integrating personal growth with cultural values and clinical tools, clients are empowered to build a strong foundation for long-term recovery—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
